Dinner Presentation: "What do PMBOK changes between 6 and 7 mean to you?"
Chris DelGardo is currently the Organizational Design Project Manager for Phillips 66’s Business Transformation project in Houston, TX. He has over 25 years in our field, has achieved his PMP certification, and has an MBA with a Project Management concentration from LSU Shreveport.
Chris likes to say that he ‘stumbled blindly into the world of project management’. In the early to mid-1990s, he worked on projects part-time as an operations manager in a small communications startup. He knew little about project management, and never envisioned a career as a project manager. As his career progressed, however, he shifted away from operations and into project management full-time.
Since then, Chris has managed projects across multiple disciplines: process improvement, software development, logistics routing optimization, IT, and business transformation. He spent 12 years consulting internationally for major capital projects in the energy industry. He has taught bootcamps for PMP candidates here in the Houston area, and has taught project management courses for a major oil company & for a oilfield services company.
Chris has spoken for several industry conferences, served as a past Director of Projects (West) for Houston PMI, and has presented at PMI meetings in Houston, Singapore, and Western Australia.
Topic Synopsis:
As the name suggests, the PMBOK is the foundational document for the Project Management Body of Knowledge. The field of project management is always evolving; so as a response PMI releases a new version of the PMBOK Guide every 4-5 years or so. The latest version is the PMBOK 7. Each previous revision of the PMBOK has witnessed a progressive elaboration in material as presented, however this transition from PMBOK 6 to PMBOK 7 marks a fundamental change in the document’s content and organizational structure.
Join us as Chris DelGardo discusses the latest version and how it will impact existing Project Managers as well as those seeking the prestigious PMP certification.
Learning Objectives:
1. How the New PMBOK compares to the previous version.
2. What it means for current project managers.
3. How this will impact those seeking PMP certification.
