Topic Synopsis:

The engine that runs every business consists of organization people, capital, processes, technologies, markets, customers, and governance, amongst others.

For many years and owing to the huge capital outlay, accessibility to financial capital was considered the primary driver of project and product (and by implication, business) success, irrespective of industry. As a matter of fact, some business leaders hold so much to the “Cash is King” belief to the detriment of people, the human capital, they need to invest in to lead them well into the future.

Increasing regulatory requirements, climate change initiatives and the competitive marketplace, amongst others, have necessitated an ongoing demand by business leaders for successful megaprojects. Unfortunately, high profile megaproject failures are common these days and do damage reputations and negatively affect the implementation of longer-term strategic plans.

To stem the tide, this session assesses talents and the future of work, and how they would drive the future of megaproject delivery. The presentation concludes with a Call to Action for Project Leaders and their sponsoring organizations to self-assess and realistically prepare themselves for the undeniable risks and opportunities which talents and the future of work offer in the megaproject delivery space, now and well into the future.

Learning Objectives:

1. Explore key themes, definitions and viewpoints with respect to talents, the future of work and megaproject delivery in general
2. Discuss practical megaproject talent management in the post-COVID era
3. Articulate drivers of the future of megaproject delivery, using relatable, energy industry examples
