Conference Volunteers

The PMI Houston Annual Conference is a volunteer-driven event that thrives because of the dedication and support of our amazing volunteers. We are currently recruiting for several key onsite volunteer roles to help us deliver a seamless and engaging experience for all attendees.

These roles are a great way to build your network, develop new skills, and earn PDUs—all while having fun and giving back to the PMI community.

Onsite Volunteer Roles : Expectations

1) Availability on both conference days: Volunteers must commit to being present for the entire duration of the conference.
2) Membership in the PMI Houston Chapter: Volunteers should be active members of the PMI Houston Chapter.
3) Attendance at a volunteer training session: Prior to the conference, volunteers are required to participate in a training session to ensure they are well-prepared for their roles.
4) Professional attire: Volunteers are expected to dress in professional attire; jeans are not permitted

General Area Lead 

(One position available) 

  1. Supervise four volunteers who cover the general area, main ballroom, and dining / snack area 
  2. Teach team members their roles 
  3. Help with stuffing attendee bags

 Time Commitment: 2-4 hrs per week until conference

General Area

(Four positions available) 

  1. Report to the General Area Lead 
  2. Greet guests and guide them between sessions
  3. Oversee the information desk 
  4. Maintain the area designated for charging cell phones 
  5. Keep an eye on signs 
  6. Support the vendor area by assisting the sponsorship team in monitoring it and guiding attendees

Time Commitment: 2-4 hrs per week until conference

Ballroom

(Four positions available)

1. Report to General Area Lead
2. Manage ballroom, dining area, and quiet room
3. Welcome and direct attendees to the conference
4. Monitor rooms for readiness

Time Commitment: 2-4 hrs per week until conference

Breakout Room

(Eight positions available) 

  1. Report to the Breakout Rooms Lead
  2. Scan attendees for PDUs in ballroom and breakout rooms 
  3. Respond to any inquiries by attendees 
  4. Introduce the speaker 
  5. Impart PDU process knowledge to participants 
  6. Monitor room and request AV assistance as and when needed
Time Commitment: 2-4 hrs per week until conference

Speaker Ready Room

(Two positions available) 

  1. Report to Program Chair 
  2.  Secure and clean location for speakers to relax and work 
  3. Welcome and sign in speakers 
  4. Review speaker schedule 
  5. Hand out thank you gifts 

Time Commitment: 2-4 hrs per week until conference


Registration Desk

(Four positions available) 

  1. Report to AMC team 
  2. Greet attendees, give them the packets, and respond to inquiries
  3. Day prior to conference: help with registration desk setup and stuff attendee bags 

Time Commitment: 2-4 hrs per week until conference

Mobile App Support

(Two positions available) 

  1. Competency in using / guiding the mobile app to assist attendees 
  2. Providing mobile app desk support during the conference

 Time Commitment : 2-4 hrs per week until conference

PMI Houston Booth

(One position available) 

  1. Support the booth team by distributing giveaways, 
  2.  Assist with the keynote Photo Op and answering questions about the chapter. 

Time Commitment: 2-4 hrs per week until conference
