A look forward
I had the opportunity to attend IIL’s IPM Day 2019 and listen to many keynotes including PMI President Sunil Prashara’s vision and actions being taken for PMI.
We truly are at an inflection point for the field of project management in the Project Economy as we expand the breadth, depth and path of the profession.
In the past few years, I have personally witnessed many of the issues being discussed in both “my day job” and in conversations with fellow business leaders, practitioners and educators. It is welcoming to see PMI’s focus on the next 50 years as we evolve through all of the buzzwords and concepts: Traditional, Agile, Bi-modal, Tri-modal, Scrum, SAFe, Disciplined Agile, Flex and the list goes on. The profession needs practitioners and leaders like you to navigate the future reality.
At PMI Houston, we have been involved in the journey with PMI and the future of the organization. One recent example was the Houston Chapter identified as an early adopter for the re-branding initiative. If you happened to be surfing our website late one Saturday evening in October, you would have noted that the PMI Houston site reflected the new brand as it was announced globally. We continue to partner with PMI Global to evolve with the organization to meet the local needs of our members.
Tactically – the election of the 2020 Board of Director open positions should be available to you as you read this. The 2019 Board of Directors is working to complete remaining items and beginning to support the planning and transition for the incoming 2020 board of directors.
