Unexpected Star Shines with the Power of You!

He was an unlikely hero of the game. Signed last summer and only Coach D’Antoni believed he still had what it took to help the team. The Rockets Game #4 win against Oklahoma City was an amazing performance by Nene Hilario, Number 42! The 16-year veteran scored 28 points in 26 minutes of play. He dominated the game coming in off the bench and hit 12 for 12 from the field, setting an NBA playoff record.

Reading about him, I was thinking about key people on teams I’ve led that surprised me with their performance. The “unlikely hero” who shines under pressure; individuals who give their all when the project is at risk, work the extra hours, figure out a way to resolve an issue, and help us make a deadline.

Those are the team members I want to work with on every project. When the dust settles you ask how? How they know to try that, fix that? You learn they are always sharpening the saw!  Always working to learn more and take the time to develop their skill set. The Power of You is calling on the resources you have at your command. The knowledge base not just from college and work history, but that investment you’ve made to learn more. To be current in your skills you have to constantly invest in you.

Join us June 5th & 6th for The Power of You! Learn something new, be inspired, challenge yourself, and invest in you! Click here to learn more about our half-day workshops, keynote speakers Afterburner and Dr. James Brown, and day one breakout sessions. We are limited to 500 attendees and we are half way filled. Register now and bring your team!

Make sure you cheer on the unlikely hero Houston Rocket @NeneHilario42 NBA Star and Cancer Survivor. GO ROCKETS GO! What an exciting playoff run for Houston Clutch City!

    Project Management in Non-profits

By Thomas Goebel, Volunteer Content Writer

One of the biggest challenges faced by those managing projects in non-profits is exemplified by what CEO Brian Greene of the Houston Food Bank calls the “Dual Bottom Line” for charities.  These bottom lines are financial sustainability and mission impact, and are often in direct competition.

While project management as a concept and goal is alive and well in non-profits, the project manager role in the non-profit organization is still being defined. Read the full article here
