Pre Meeting: How Long Will It Take to Complete My Project? A Study in Probabilistics Using Monte Carlo Analysis
    Chris DelGardo, PMP
    Knowledge Formation

Chris DelGardo, PMP is the president of Knowledge Formation in Houston, TX.  Chris has over 25 years in management, including 17 years in project management and business process development.

For the past 11+ years, Chris has consulted for major capital projects ranging from $10 million to $40+ billion across six continents. Key areas of expertise include probabilistic cost and schedule risk analysis, project execution planning, project framing, corporate project management system training, value improving practices, and facilitation of various technical or business reviews of projects in the energy sector.

At Knowledge Formation, Chris offers a wide range of services to help teams plan, develop, and execute your projects with predictable results.  He provides PM training, consulting, and Project Management Office (PMO) support services.

    Topic Description:
Even with a growing knowledge base of project management, delay and cost overrun continue to plague projects of all sizes, across multiple industries.  Cost and Schedule Risk Assessment (CSRA), when completed at key times in the project lifecycle, improves the potential for project success and predictability by helping stakeholders identify and quantify the risks and opportunities.  By applying Monte Carlo analysis to the project cost and schedule, project managers can provide investment decision makers with a realistic and quantified range of uncertainty around the budget estimates and completion dates.  This can also provide project team with a holistic view of the project’s risk profile for effective risk mitigation.
