Janice RodgersJanice Rodgers, a California native, began her project management career as a software engineering officer in the US Air Force.  She led many teams in the Air Force and used the PMI project management practices throughout her career.  After she left the military, Janice went on to begin her consulting career which focused on managing software development projects and executing program management principles and practices.  After using PMI practices for over 10 years in her professional career, Janice decided to get her PMP certification to further enhance her expertise and her job performance.  Recently, Janice finished a SAP business transformation project where she led a Sales and Marketing team to implement SAP with the Advanced SAP methodology.  Her expertise and practical applications of the PMI methodology is proven and extensive over her 20-year career.


Brenda WilliamsBrenda K. Williams, an Ohio native, began her project management career working for fortune 500 companies and consulting firms in the field of project management.  She received her PMP certification from PMI in 2005.  Brenda managed software development projects and executed program management initiatives at major corporations throughout the United States throughout her 25-year career.  Active in the community, Brenda is a past president of AWC (Association for Women in Computing), member of both MPA (Microsoft Project Association) and PMI (Project Management Institute, Inc.).  Brenda received the 2007 Woman of Excellence Award from the Federation of Houston Professional Women.




Andy StuartAndy Stuart leads the Strategy and Planning PMO for a Fortune 500 company and is based in Houston. Andy has presented on Project Management and Leadership topics at local chapter meetings, the PMI Leadership Institute meeting, and is a recognized subject matter expert on Leadership at his company and within the PMI community. In a volunteer capacity Andy has held leadership positions with the Houston Chapter of PMI and was the President of the Chapter in 2012.  In those leadership positions Andy has been an advocate for developing leadership skills in the chapter and for providing low cost training options for students and unemployed members of the chapter. Andy has a Bachelor of Engineering in Electronic and Electrical Engineering, a Master of Science in Digital Systems from the University of Paisley in Scotland, and a Masters in Business Administration from Keller Graduate School in Houston, Texas. In his spare time, Andy enjoys spending time with his family, reading, golf, and volunteering on the Board of Directors for his local chapter of the Project Management Institute.


Matt MoreyMatt Morey, PMP,  Distinguished Toastmaster, Champion Speaker, and Decorated Combat Veteran, Matt is a regular speaker at PMI and Toastmaster events and conferences, with over 8 years of project management experience in Oil & Gas, Information Technology, Event Planning, and US Government, ranging from $100 thousand to over $100 million dollar projects.







Omar BellOmar K Bell, PMP, Senior Manager at Accenture has more than 13 years of experience in industries such as Resources (Oil & Gas), Consumer Goods and Services and Federal Services.  He has worked extensively with project delivery related to systems implementation, integration and business process management.




Jared RastegarJared Rastegar is a Product Services Manager at ProjecTools, a leader in cloud-based project management software for the Oil & Gas industry. 

Jared draws from his rich IT and project management experience in his work with Oil & Gas clients and internal Product Engineers to ensure the application fits users’ needs. In addition to direct work with clients, he ensures the training and implementation team provides clients with excellent service and process suggestions.   Jared, a Houston area native, studied at University of Houston, earning a BS in Information Systems. 




Roberto ToledoRoberto Toledo, PMP, MBA, is a Project Management consultant, trainer, speaker and writer; Roberto is a contributing editor at PMI’s PM Network magazine, responsible for the Trend Watch column.  CEO and Founder of Alpha PM Consulting, Inc. based in McAllen, TX and Alpha Consultoria, SA based in Mexico City, both of his companies have trained more than 25,000 executives from various industries and Roberto has been a speaker at forums in 12 different countries.  He also has been an active member of PMI for more than 12 years and since 2012 is a member of PMI Educational Foundation’s Board of Directors.


Ken ShumateKen Shumate is the Founder and Principal of TimberLine Consultancy LLC, “Your Independent Cloud Computing Advisor”, PMP, has over 30 years’ experience in large-scale I.T. program leadership with Hewlett Packard and Conoco Oil Company. 

With expertise in translating technical concepts into business terms, Ken’s specialty has been recovering large and troubled I.T. outsourcing programs.

Margaret JohnsonMargaret Johnson has a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering, an MBA and is a licensed professional engineer.  Working in the energy industry, she performed engineering analyses, managed technical and non-technical personnel, sold mechanical services and marketed operations and maintenance services for oil and gas production platforms to executives.

As President of Ideal Training, Inc she develops and presents training and coaches professionals with a focus on Creativity and Risk Taking.  Her company also organizes beach retreats for women focusing on relationships and finding their purpose.  She is an avid indoor cycling and yoga instructor. She applies creativity and encourages risk taking to assist clients in solving problems and opening doors, and to keep her classes engaging.



Adriana RapollaAdriana Rapolla                                                                            

Throughout her career, Adriana has managed the Organizational Change Management and Training side of several global, multilingual projects, as well as corporate reorganizations and Merger & Acquisition projects, in various industries including Oil and Gas, Aerospace, Food and Beverage, Insurance, and Electronics. She has also designed and created various Leadership development programs.

Adriana is a trainer and speaker who offers real world business experience and a straight talking approach to solving challenges. Besides English, Adriana is fluent in Spanish and Portuguese, both oral and written.



Albert NahasAlbert J. Nahas has successfully applied his leadership skills in a wide variety of industries including textiles, mobility systems, power generation, construction, transportation, healthcare, and telecommunications. His experience has varied from Vice President of Operations and Engineering for a heavy equipment manufacturing company to Senior Director of Global Network Operations for an international broadband network. His nine years of international experience include operations assignments in Europe and Asia and power plant construction projects inTurkeyandNicaragua. He has successfully ensured quality execution using proven leadership principles. 

Al received a Bachelor of Science Degree from the United StatesMilitaryAcademyat West Point. He holds a Master of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering from StanfordUniversity, a Master of Business Administration from Long IslandUniversityand a Masters Degree equivalent in Executive Management from the IndustrialCollegeof the Armed Forces.  He has 26 years of Army service including three years as an Associate Professor at the United StatesMilitaryAcademyand nineteen months in combat.  Al has 14 years of corporate experience.  He founded Focused Leadership in 2003 to coach corporate leaders and teams.  Al is a registered Professional Engineer and the author of Warriors Remembered, a photo documentary of 100Vietnam veterans memorials from all fifty states.


Phil BossertColonel Phil Bossert, USAF (retired), PMP is President of Civil-Military Leadership Seminars, LLC, he specializes in the education and training of first and second line supervisors.  Phil writes and speaks about leadership, strategic planning, transformational change, and the U.S. Military.  

CM Leadership Seminars, LLC, is a service-disabled, veteran-owned small business that uses combat veterans and college professors teaching various leadership topics and is based on a model he developed while leading the Air Force ROTC program for 21 colleges in the Houston metro area from 2006 – 2010.  He planned and led eight seminars which trained 480 leaders including managers from NASA, administrators from the University of Houston, Congressional staffers, managers from in Boeing, Anadarko Industries, the Texas Medical Center, the City of Houston, and several nonprofits.        



Eddie MerlaEddie Merla, PMI-ACP, PMP is a Senior Project Manager, Coach and Trainer.  He has implemented project management programs for multiple organizations and in multiple industries.  His project management experiences include North America, Europe, the Middle East, South America and Asia.  He is experienced in Agile project management techniques.  He has been a frequent speaker at the Project Management Institute (PMI®) Global Congresses including the Latin America Congress, the EMEA Congress, the Asia Pacific Congress and the North America Congress.  He has also authored multiple articles for PMI




Gerald de PatoulGerald de Patoul is Vice President and Treasurer for GDF SUEZ in North America. Gerald is in charge of the treasury and financing activities, as well as the commodity risk control for the Bn$15 investments in power and gas activities in the US, Canada and Mexico. He joined GDF SUEZ in 2001 with various responsibilities in mergers and acquisitions as well as treasury and finance.

Gerald started his career with PwC in audit and M&A. He graduated from the University of Louvain-la-Neuve (Belgium) as business engineer, and obtained a master in finance and tax from the University of Antwerp (Belgium).




Jim DassattiJim Dassatti is a process and organizational design specialist with 17 years expertise in Lean and Six Sigma, at both the tactical and strategic levels. His experience has included working in various industries across the world, as well as transforming and running large-scale operations.  Jim has implemented Lean is many different disciplines, including manufacturing, operations, finance, human resources, marketing, maintenance, and distribution, as well as developing Lean for Project Management Offices.

As a Lean Advisor in the energy industry, Jim provides practical Lean application and coaching in for the development and production of oil and gas. In addition to holding a Bachelor’s of Science in Industrial Engineering, and a Master’s of Science in Engineering Management, Jim has also served as an executive coach and trainer on change management, corporate culture, simplicity, and talent development. 


Gordon SmithGORDON D. SMITH, PhD is a Clinical Professor of Supply Chain Management at Bauer College University of Houston.  He has over 30 years of executive leadership experience for multinational companies transforming operations, supply chains and customer support organizations in the automotive, telecommunications and oil and gas E&P industries.  His primary focus has been leading teams and providing guidance focused on sustainable change management, achieving operational excellence through rationalization of supply chains, manufacturing, operations, quality, business process improvements and complex service delivery systems.  He teaches the Supply Chain Management core course in the MBA and EMBA programs and MBA electives in Global Supply Chain Management and Supply Chain / Operations Strategy.  He continues to provide thought leadership regarding supply chain and operations strategy via consulting, executive education and publishing.


Imaad MahfoozIMAAD MAHFOOZ, MBA is a Strategic Adviser focused on significantly improving clients’ business results and revenues through building top-performing teams and optimizing business and technology functions with particular focus on supply chain, human capital, operations, ERP and SaaS. He has extensive experience in leading multicultural, cross-functional and virtual teams on complex business and technology projects via executive roles at SAP, BearingPoint, PricewaterhouseCoopers and Prudential International as well as independent consulting for blue-chip companies and public sector organizations. Mr. Mahfooz is known as a thought leader through published articles, white papers and speaking in reputable forums.




Walter VialiWalter A. Viali, PMP is a Project Management and Project Management Office (PMO) Management Consultant, Certified Project Management Professional (PMP) with a varied background in different industries, which has included several domestic and international assignments.  Walter has extensive knowledge and experience in Strategic Business Planning, Business Reengineering, Information Systems Planning, Portfolio Management, Process and Project Management, Project Management Office (PMO) implementation and Joint Application Development (JAD) session leading.  He has delivered several presentations on Project Management topics to numerous PMI Chapters in the U.S., Canada, Mexico, and Europe, as well as at the PMI North American Congresses in Houston and Anaheim.  Walter was a member of the PMI team that authored the first release of the PMI Organizational Project Management Maturity Model (OPM3) assessment standard.  He was on the Board of the PMI Houston Chapter from 2002 until 2008 and its President in 2007.  He was also on the Board of the PMI Clear Lake-Galveston Chapter in 2009-2010.    As of 1/1/2011, Walter is the Region Mentor for PMI’s Region 6 (23 Chapters and over 22,000 PMI members in the South Central U.S.).


Bruce GarrettBruce Garrett, PMP, ACB, ALB   recently completed a career in the Technology industry, having worked in various Engineering and Supply Chain positions at Texas Instruments, Schlumberger Well Services, and Hewlett Packard.  The last 23 years of his career was at HP, where he worked as an Engineering Project Manager.  He currently works part time as a Project Management consultant at Lone Star Community College.

Bruce has been a member of PMI Houston for eight years and has recently joined the many volunteers serving in PMI’s External Operations organization.   He works on the Marketing committee, helping the Public Relations team to reach the Marketing goals for 2013. 



Brian HerodBrian Herod  has worked as an IT project manager in higher education and the oil/gas industry. He has specialized in innovative projects that include stakeholder management and organizational development components. He is completing his master’s degree in Project Management at the University of Houston’s College of Technology. He also uses his project management skills in service to various non-profit organizations in Houston and Texas. In 2010, he was awarded a Frontier Fiesta graduate scholarship from the University of Houston for his service efforts.




Lisa LundquistLisa J. Lundquist has a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering (University of Texas at Arlington), a Masters candidate in Engineering Management (University of Houston - Clear Lake), and is an American Society of Quality certified Six Sigma Black Belt.  Most of her career has been spent in the Aerospace and Defense industry, currently supporting Safety and Mission Assurance for astronaut training at Johnson Space Center for Raytheon. As part of her Six Sigma development training, Lisa took a special interest in Critical Chain Program Management and is a Raytheon site lead for training and promoting the use of CCPM tools and behaviors.



Ram SeetepalliRam Seetepalli PMP, is a vice president in the South Central Region for Sogeti USA, an Information Technology services company and part of the CapGemini group. He has extensive real-world experience in mobile and cloud computing, enterprise architecture, business process management, strategic planning and governance, from providing consulting services and formal training to high-profile clients in several industries around the country such as Pharmaceutical, Public Sector, Energy, Media, Finance, Education and Telecommunications. He has been involved in several complex business transformations with technical leadership role on large programs to maximize value of information technology investments. Ram currently manages one of the largest consulting services practices in the USA for Sogeti.



Rich RectorRich Rector, PMP  is the Current Vice President of Professional Development PMI Houston and has over 15 years of experience in information technology. He has been a trainer and coordinator in Project Management certifications







Ron HopkinsRon Hopkins, Ph.D. is currently a Visiting Associate Professor for the Information and Logistics Technology (ILT) Department /Technology Project Management (TEPM) program where he also serves as the director of graduate project studies.

Dr. Hopkins earned his Ph.D. in Psychology from "Ole Miss" (University of Mississippi).

Dr. Hopkins' extensive experience includes spending 17 years in healthcare, managing psychiatric hospitals across the United States. He later joined Royal Dutch Shell, starting as a project manager, and eventually moving into managing the Shell's global workforce of information technology project managers in the US. He managed Shell's major supply chain projects and served as the global program director for all of the projects and programs in the downstream manufacturing supply and distribution business. As the business systems manager for the downstream supply chain, he directed all IT systems for this global business before retiring from Shell in August 2012.


 Anthony Orr

Anthony Orr is currently Director, and on the Thought Leadership council at BMC Software, Inc.  (NASDAQ: BMC) a leading provider of enterprise management solutions that empower companies to manage IT from a business perspective. He has worked for BMC Software for over 15 years in various managerial, strategy, consulting, marketing and technical positions. Anthony has helped numerous BMC customers in various industries globally with Business Service Management (BSM) strategies, education and implementations.  He is an author for the ITILv3 publication 2011 update, a Sr. Examiner for APMG with responsibilities for the ITIL v3 certification examinations. Anthony is currently board member of itSMF Houston Local Interest Group (LIG). He is a frequent speaker on best practices at industry events and BMC customer forums. He has authored numerous whitepapers, pamphlets, podcasts, videos, and blogs on service management topics.


Carla Fair-WrightCarla Fair-Wright, PMP, CSQE  is a software engineer with over 17 years of experience in the IT industry. She is the owner of Optimal Consulting LLC, a local company that provides project management consulting services. Carla is the chapter author of two books, 'Encyclopedia of Energy Engineering and Technology' and 'Case Studies and Applications of Web Based Energy Information and Control Systems.'  She has been featured in the National Society of Black Engineers (NSBE) magazine, Maintenance Technology, and CODE Magazine.




Louis CarfagnoLouis F. Carfagno, D.M. is a Global Training Manager in the Oil & Gas industry and a University Professor with over 15 years of experience training Astronauts to perform EVAs (space walks). Co-authored NASA study on the effects of shoulder injuries to astronauts while training to perform EVAs and the long term effects. He also teaches in several MBA programs that emphasize leadership, emotional intelligence (EQ), organizational behavior, and Project Management.
